PTA

Welcome to the Helke Elementary Parent-Teacher Association!

Helke PTA is an organization consisting of parents and teachers, who are dedicated to planning, funding, and implementing many of the school programs your student will participate in this year. We hope that you will join us for an unprecedented 2022-2023 school year as our students and teachers rise to meet unforeseen challenges. We are Aviators and I know we will soar! It is the PTA’s mission to support the school’s level of excellence while enriching the lives of Helke Students. And they need us now more than ever.

It is our pleasure to sponsor several programs throughout the year. While we are figuring out how to accommodate the new health regulations to ensure our students and their families, as well as the staff, enjoy the safest environment we can provide, we hope to sponsor a virtual Scholastic Book Fair, Holiday Shop, and Walk-a-thon. In previous years we have also sponsored a Mother/Son Night, Father/Daughter Dance, Donuts with Dad, Muffins with Mom, staff appreciation luncheons, and monthly birthday luncheons – we are hopeful that we will be able to do so once again, possibly even some this year with creative implementation.

Through all of our fundraising efforts, we are able to financially support the care of the wildlife in the Media Center, staff appreciation events, field trips, and class parties.  A yearly donation is made to the Mary Ann Wetzel Foundation and the Helke Scholarship is awarded yearly to a senior from Butler High School. We also strive to contribute to a number of educational and character building programs throughout the year.

In addition to all of the above, in previous years we were able to provide funds to repair a bridge on the playground, purchase and install a music playground, purchase indoor recess activities, purchase new basketball hoops for the playground, purchase new front signage, sponsor the annual first grade Muse Machine performances, and bring in Chris Rowlands from Aullwood to our school, where each student participated to complete a large art installation and another time when each grade was able to create a song(s) to perform for the school, parents, and other family. In the past few years Helke PTA funds have added a computer lab to the school and purchased smart boards for all of the classrooms. We hope to continue the level of support we have been able to provide and add more new and exciting programs as we go.

All of this being said, none of what we do as a PTA would be possible without you! We would love to have you join our PTA for the 2022-2023 school year. Because we are still trying to figure out the ways we are able be involved at the school within the new safety guidelines, your contribution to the PTA might be somewhat limited in scope at first – little “in person” requirements. We know you’re also busy navigating this new world as well and don’t want you to feel burdened to carve out additional time you might not have. Know that your membership dues ($7.00 per member) help our operating fund! Of course, please also accept this as an invitation to participate as much as you are able to this year in whatever way possible. We hope to meet you at our upcoming events and meetings this year. Please look for our flyer which will be sent out the first week of school. Our Facebook page serves as a great tool in finding out about meeting dates/times and PTA events, the link is included here:  https://www.facebook.com/helkepta/.   We thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Helke PTA
